Group sessions, Psychology Workshops

Group sessions have their strength – no suprise – in the power of community.

Opening up or working with others in a group may feel stressful first, but is a great opportunity to get fedback from your peers, to feel you are not alone with neither your difficulties nor your joyous experiences. Group sessions also provide safe space where you can discuss topics you otherwise wouldn’t, or make friends with those whom you otherwise wouldn’t have met.

Group sessions mainly focus on strengthening inter- and intrapersonal skills; just as dealing with stress and procrastination, managing or at least understanding the source of emotional instability, and learning some mindfulness and cognitive strategies which might provide quick help in need. For the creative minds, I also provide an insigt to art therapy, and how you can work on self-knowledge in your free time.

Details:

  • 120 min each with 10-15 min break.

  • On every session, I’m available for a little longer if you had anything to discuss personally about your experiences in the group

Dates and venue of Psychology Workshops

► MIND YOUR BODY. AN INTEGRATIVE APPROACH TO WELLBEING

  • 27th of February (Friday) 14:00 - 16:00

  • ELTE Faculty of Humanities (1088. Budapest, Múzeum körút 4.), Main Building, 3rd floor, room: 318 (map)

  • Meeting point: For those, who feel uncertain about navigating at the campus, we meet at 13:50 in front of building A, and will go together to the classroom at 13:57 the latest.

When academic stress is on, we often forget that our brilliant minds are encapsulated in a (just as brilliant) body. Moreover, we need this body to keep functioning effectively through theweeks in order to achieve our personal goals.

During these periods many students get sleep deprived, move significantly less than WHO’s minimum recommendation and eat fast food. Most of the time bodies start complaining only as we age, but the impact that a healthy body has on our mental and emotional health we often underestimate.

This time I would like to shed light on how the health of our body impacts the health of our mind and why sometimes it is worth to sleep or exercise an extra hour instead of studying through the night.

How to sign up?
You can apply to the workshop until the 25th of February 14:00

► RELAXATION AND MINDFULNESS - THEORY AND PRACTICE

  • 27th of March (Friday) 14:00 - 16:00

  • ELTE Faculty of Humanities (1088. Budapest, Múzeum körút 4.), Main Building, 3rd floor, room: 318 (map)

  • Meeting point: For those, who feel uncertain about navigating at the campus, we meet at 13:50 in front of building A, and will go together to the classroom at 13:57 the latest.

During the spring semester we'll take a closer look at different relaxation techniques.

If you ever felt stressed out and had no idea how to access it, this workshop is for you. If you had some ideas, you tried relaxation techniques but neither of them worked, this workshop is for you, too.

During the Theory part we'll try to find out how these techniques work, what they are good for, when to use them and what factors might be hijacking the process. The Practice part speaks for itself: we'll try some easy methods you can start working with in order to have at least one or two techniques to rely on when exam period hits.

Techniques we'll speak of: breathing techniques, mindfulness and emotional journaling, guided meditation, workout, progressive muscle relaxation.

  • Meeting point: For those, who feel uncertain about navigating at the campus, we meet at 13:50 in front of building A, and will go together to the classroom at 13:57 the latest.

This time we make an attempt to model the working of (therapeutic) group sessions. The focus is on problem solving in academic life, how to handle conflicts, misunderstandings while staying on the professional ground.

You may bring any current topics you are dealing with now or dealt with in the past. Let it be a conflict of interest, a missed deadline or a row with a group mate, all issues are welcome.

To better understand ways we, our peers, colleagues or even teachers might go wrong, we’re going to learn a bit about theways we read situation a well as how our acts may be misunderstood by others despite the best of our intentions.
